Sound Cruising with Oregon State On Top of the Beaver Mobile

The Beaver Mobile is a reincarnated bread delivery truck that now is the life of the OSU tailgating scene. The love for Oregon State not only connects the generations of alumni, but it also has created a place for everyone to meet up on game day.

Tailgating is the pre-game festivities held in the parking lots of stadiums. It's a chance for fans to socialize before the games. The name comes from when the partying was held on the tailgates of pickup trucks and station wagons.

Souped up with the AmpliVox S314 Quad Sound Cruiser
, the Beaver Mobile is now equipped to take its message on the road serving up their popular "Beaver Hot Chocolate" to all fans pre-game.

Reach audiences up to 3,000 and cover the length of a football field with strong, clear, crisp sound.

The Sound Cruiser is ideal not just for cars but for all vehicle communication needs.

The horn speakers mount easily and firmly on a vehicle roof with non-marring suction cups and butter hooks.

The powerful 50 watt amplifier lets you really crank up the sound. The amplifier can be:
  • Plugged into your car’s cigarette lighter socket
  • Or direct wire the unit to your car battery
  • Or get the optional battery pack with 10 D Cell batteries good for 200 hours of operation
  • Or optional rechargeable NiCad battery with AC Adapter Recharger

The amplifier features:

  • Dual wireless microphone jacks for multiple presenters
  • Auxiliary input for iPhone or CD player
  • Line out for recording
  • Additional speaker jacks
  • Volume and tone controls
  • There is even a siren button

Think Pink! October Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention

Every October, people all over the world show their support for everyone affected by breast cancer.

Founded in 2010 and offered year round, AmpliVox’s Pink Podium Promise donates special pink versions our Pinnacle Podiums to licensed or certified breast cancer awareness organizations to help their voices be heard.

The Pink Podiums were distributed to hundreds of cancer society chapters, foundations, hospitals and local governments.

"AmpliVox products are designed to make people look good and sound good," said AmpliVox CEO Don Roth.

The Pink Podium presents a dramatic visual reinforcement of the color that has come to be associated with breast cancer awareness and prevention.

There is no sure way to prevent breast cancer. But there are things you can do that might lower your risk. Many risk factors are beyond your control, such as being born female and getting older. But other risk factors can be changed and may lower your risk.

The food you eat, the substances you’re exposed to, and your level of physical activity impact your body’s production and function of hormones, inflammatory substances and immune factors that have the power to promote… or prevent cancer.

Ways to Prevent Breast Cancer
The following is a list that may help keep you from developing breast cancer. It is not a guarantee that you won't get breast cancer. However, by following these strategies you may lower your odds of getting breast cancer and you may also improve your overall health.

Screening
Remember to get annual mammograms and clinical breast exams beginning at 40.
Exercise
Engage in moderately intense physical activity for at least 30 minutes on 5 days or more.
Nutrition
Eat five or more servings of fruit and vegetables, limiting processed and red meats. Choose whole grains.

Weight
Women who gained 20 pounds or more as an adult are 40 percent more likely to develop breast cancer.
Alcohol
Drinking even small amounts of alcohol is linked with an increased risk of breast cancer in women.
Smoking
Smoking is linked to a higher risk of breast cancer in younger, premenopausal women.

Genetic
About 5% to 10% of breast cancers are thought to be hereditary, caused by abnormal genes.
Breast-feed
Breast-feeding might play a role, the longer you breast-feed, the greater the protective effect.
MHT
Menopausal Hormone Therapy
(MHT) studies have concluded that the risks often outweigh the benefits.

How to Choose the Right Size PA System

Do you need to buy a Public Address System for your school, business, or organization? It can be a tough task to pick the right PA system with so many different sizes and features available.

The following tips will help you narrow down the competition and find what system will best meet your needs:

1. Portable or Stationary
Do you need to use your Sound System indoors, outdoors, or both? Are there a variety of activities that you could use a Public Address System for?

If you answered "yes" to either of those questions, then you should choose a portable system.

Portable sound systems give the planner and presenter the versatility to easily move your system wherever you want.

Many portable pa systems include rechargeable batteries and AC power options. This is a must for outdoor events like cross country meets and parades because it allows you to follow the action without tripping over wires, scouting out electrical outlets, or untangling pesky wires.

2. Estimate your Audience Size
Portable PA systems reach anywhere from 50 to 7500 people (in optimal conditions). Formulate a good estimate on the number of people you want to cover.

It is always better to overestimate than underestimate because you can always turn down the volume on the bigger, louder, PA systems.
3. Estimate the Area of Coverage
Top of the line systems can cover anywhere from 600 square feet to 25,000 square feet with one device (additional speakers add more coverage).

Remember: Just like estimating audience size, it is better to error on the side of overestimating.

4. Determine Desired Features
Portable PA Systems offer a wide variety of options including audio accessibility and microphone options. Mic options include the type of mic (wireless, handheld, lapel, headset, etc) and how many wireless mics are able to be used simultaneously.

Volume and tone controls are pretty standard. A warranty is another thing to consider, AmpliVox offers an industry-leading warranty on many of our easy to use PA Systems.

5. Research
It is important to diligently search for a good PA system that will meet your needs and will be worth the investment purchasing a quality system. Looking for customer reviews, testimonials, and warranty options are great ways to ensure that you are getting the best quality system available.

It is not strange to hear about a PA system that has lasted over fifteen years. With all of these tips in mind, a savvy consumer should have all of the tools and knowledge they need to make the right purchase.
