Motivational Yoga Lessons for Lasting Lifestyle Changes

For the curious and introspective yoga teacher, the passionate yoga student, or the fitness instructor who wants to step out of the bounds of teaching only yoga's physical postures, Chicago-area veteran yoga teacher Nancy Gerstein has written Motivational Yoga: 100 Lessons for Strength, Energy, and Transformation.

Within Motivational Yoga’s 100 inspiring lessons, Gerstein offers yogis the tools to empower their own decisions and personalize their results.

Motivational Yoga encourages practitioners to move forward, be inquisitive, and discover their unlimited potential by going after the life they desire.

"While asana is an excellent tool for holistic health and wellness," says Gerstein, "yoga’s mental and spiritual benefits far outweigh the physical exercises that have become synonymous with the practice.

The lessons in Motivational Yoga will help the practitioner lead others, communicate clearly, and foster creativity."

Fully customizable to meet individual teacher or student needs, the ready-to-use lessons save valuable practice and class preparation time.

Most lessons offer a written script and follow a five-part format:

Intention provides the focus for the day's yoga class

Lesson (script) embodies the essence of the day's teaching

Asanas for Deepening section illustrates the lesson through body stretch, movement, and sensation

Motivation Off the Mat section presents the wider application of the lesson for use in everyday life

Teacher Tips and Wise Words offer advice for fine-tuning sequences and proverbs that convey a specific thought or feeling for the lesson

In addition, five full-length workshop lesson plans allow teachers to offer focused workshops.

"Nancy Gerstein helps us look more deeply within the physical postures, outlining the mental and spiritual benefits in accessible, relevant ways.

Motivational Yoga is a perfect resource for us all, with inspiration and guidance for every level of practice,"
states Elena Brower, bestselling author of Practice You and Art of Attention.

Free AmpliVox Pink Podiums Available for Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
, with its signature wearing of pink to help build awareness of prevention and treatment of the disease. To assist in the cause, AmpliVox Sound Systems once again is offering a pink podium free of charge to local breast cancer organizations.

The Pink Podium Promise, launched in 2010, has placed lecterns with well over 200 groups, including national fundraising and research groups, American Cancer Society chapters, foundations, hospitals, and local governments.

One lectern even went to the US military in Iraq for use in educational programs.

Don Roth, CEO of AmpliVox, conceived of the Pink Podium program as a way to tangibly help advocacy organizations get their messages across.

"AmpliVox products are all designed to make people’s voices be heard, and our lecterns were a perfect match of product and need," said Roth, a cancer survivor himself.

"These organizations do a great job of raising awareness, and we want to be on the front lines supporting them."

The pink podiums are made of durable plastic that can withstand any weather, in keeping with the unpredictable conditions of outdoor events and races. They can be easily moved, thanks to their heavy-duty casters and built-in handles and weighs only 50 pounds.

AmpliVox delivers each lectern at no cost before an organization’s event, and the group can then keep its pink podium for future use. The pink podium is a variation of AmpliVox’s standard SN3250 Pinnacle Multimedia Lectern.

With the success of the pink lectern donations, Roth began offering the "Pink Power" megaphones to any interested group for use in educational or fundraising events.

The Pink Power megaphone is designed for ease and effectiveness.

Its ultra-light construction and fold-in handle make it completely portable and easy to use.

It includes an attention-grabbing siren function and has a durable plastic shell in the official pink of breast cancer awareness.

Running on batteries, it provides up to 20 hours of continuous talk time.

The versatile megaphones weighs just two pounds and project sound for up to 100 yards.

The Power of Music: Senior Music Therapy is Medicine for the Mind

Music has the ability to take us back in time, evoking memories and feelings from the past. When used as therapy, music can be beneficial for seniors as medicine for the mind.

Clinical studies can vouch for the health benefits of a medically approved music therapy regimen. Listening to music can elevate a persons mood and get them in a better mind frame for the rest of the day.

Not only is music uplifting and a great way for people to connect but it also helps those suffering from memory loss and social isolation.

With diseases like dementia, seniors may lose different memory aspects like short-term memory, speech or hearing but since music is stored in almost all areas of the brain its much easier to retain.

In extreme cases seniors are inert, possibly depressed, unresponsive and almost unalive.

Listening to their favorite songs energizes them, singing and dancing along, easily becoming animated by the music.

In some sense, the power of music restores and helps seniors remember who they are and reacquire their identity.

Surprisingly, some senior residences do not have a quality sound PA system. Music therapists may struggle singing or playing music to small groups using the in house sound equipment that is often unreliable or of poor quality.

AmpliVox Sound Systems offers lightweight portable public address systems to support music therapy programs for senior residents, enabling retirement communities to play music and participate in sing-alongs, in addition to hosting live musicians and small performances.

AmpliVox Equipping the Hope Chapel at the Graham Correctional Center with Lectern Donations

Millions of men and women are caught in a destructive cycle of lawlessness and incarceration. Without knowing God's hope or experiencing a faithful love for God, the story repeats itself over and over, shattering families and harming communities.

There are fewer places darker than a prison cell.

Separated from all that they ever knew convicts cope with feelings of despair and misery.

As they search for some sense of meaning and purpose for their lives, they wonder if anyone outside the walls of the prison knows or cares about their struggles.

Senior Chaplain Daniel Shreve of the Hope Chapel at the Graham Correctional Center has dedicated his life to breaking the cycle of crime.

Through his biblical anchored programs such as: Bible Studies, Prayer Groups, Choir, Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous, Stress/Anger Management and Parenting Classes, Chaplain Daniel Shreve helps restore a prisoner's hope with the promise of a future.

AmpliVox Sound Systems has equipped the Hope Chapel by donating lecterns as resources to make a difference in the lives of prisoners and their families.

"We here are the Hope Chapel in Graham Correctional Center just wanted to take this opportunity to express our extreme gratitude to you for your very generous donation of the three lecterns.

We just want you to know that they are going to be used in the process of transforming hundreds if not thousands of lives here, and are being put to good use for great causes.

Know that every gift that we receive is a blessing to our ministry and greatly appreciated. Please don't hesitate to call me anytime.

Thank you and God Bless!

Daniel Shreve, Senior Chaplain

AmpliVox donated the lecterns to the Hope Chapel to be used for their scripture readings, lectures, and sermons.
