Fisher Foundation 3rd Annual Hike 4 Better Hearing

The Fisher Foundation held its 3rd Annual Hike 4 Better Hearing walk on September 17 2016, where AmpliVox had donated a S602R Megaphone to help the announcers address the crowd. The 5K walk helps to further the public’s awareness of the importance and benefits of hearing better.

The Fisher Foundation for Hearing Health Care rekindles relationships where loved voices have been missing, giving hearing aids to over 30 families who can now truly share and laugh and enjoy the special moments of their lives.

The foundation is committed and dedicated to educating the community about the direct relationship between hearing and the brain.

Most haven’t had their hearing checked since grade school and do not realize that there is a critical window of time for early detection, intervention and treatment to avoid permanent and irreversible deterioration.

As hearing decreases, the brain suffers and pays the ultimate price of not remembering what you cannot hear.

Precision treatment by skilled doctors using sophisticated hearing aid technology to enhance brain stimulation can:
  • Save off early dementia and memory loss
  • Reverse declining cognitive function
  • Prevent falls, heart disease and depression

For some the foundation gift can be lifesaving, hearing loss is the number one disability of our soldiers in combat. They return home with debilitating ringing in their ears and can’t understand the voices of the people they left behind.

The Fischer Foundation was the recipient of the home town hero award by the governor of Illinois for giving high tech, custom made hearing protection to hundreds of local soldiers being deployed.

The most touching and rewarding efforts of the Fischer Foundation for Hearing Health Care involves bringing joy to children and their families.

AmpliVox commends the accomplishments of the Fischer Foundation for Hearing Health Care, and pledge to it our further support in the years to come.

The work of the Fisher Foundation is in need of donations all year long to reach their goal of helping bring families together through hearing. Donate today.

9/11 Interfaith Service of Healing, Hope and Love

(Mark Ukena / Pioneer Press)
On Sunday, September 11 the Deerfield and Highland Park Clergy Association held an Interfaith Service of Healing, Hope and Love in Jewett Park, Deerfield. The gathering honored those lost in September 11 terrorist attack on our country.

Members of different faiths (Christian, Jew, Muslim, Bahia, and Secular Humanist) gathered to demonstrate unity while calling for peace and understanding today. The 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks coupled with recent high-profile instances of violence across the country has prompted local religious leaders and town council members to come together in a display of solidarity.

"As we remember what happened in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, we want to strive in our community for unity in this time of divisiveness," said Rev. Brian Roots, who helped organize the event."We abhor hate and violence in all of its flavors."

"We have to learn as a community to commit to be united," Deerfield Mayor Harriet Rosenthal said. "9/11 should be remembered as a time to embrace each other, stand together as a community and go from there."
(Mark Ukena / Pioneer Press)
AmpliVox CEO Don Roth participated in the ceremony and provided the SW915 Digital Audio Travel Partner for the events sound system. The SW915 was used for leading prayers, singing songs and allowing members to speak to the attendees, sharing their stories of 9/11.

The AmpliVox Digital Audio Travel Partner is a PA system you can take anywhere, indoors or out to reach up to 10,000 people with crystal clear voice or music.

Its powerful 250 Watt amp can project sound to rooms as large as 25,000 square feet yet it weighs only 35 lbs.

With the embedded BlueTooth connectivity, you can play music remotely from your iPod or iPad. The unit give you full control over audio, such as adding reverb echo or muting music when someone speaks.

You can even plug in a musical instrument or an audio mixer. Connect up to four wireless microphones for multiple presenters or performers. The unit runs on AC power or rechargeable batteries.

(Mark Ukena / Pioneer Press)
Toward the end of the service, there was a call for action as Rev. Roots asked people to greet each other, preferably strangers, with words of peace.

AmpliVox Recommends Sound Systems to Support Emergency Preparedness

The Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies recognize September as National Emergency Preparedness Month, encouraging all communities and organizations to plan ahead for crisis management.

AmpliVox Sound Systems supports this initiative with recommendations for affordable, versatile sound systems that improve communication in the wake of any type of disaster.

When emergencies arise in crowded areas, the highest priority of first responders is to quickly move civilians to places of safety.

Whether the emergency is related to accidents, natural causes, criminal activity, or terrorist violence, panic and confusion in the crowd can greatly increase the risk of casualties.

When public safety is on the line, it is vital that law enforcement, fire departments, and other emergency responders have the ability to clearly communicate with large groups of people on a moment’s notice.

In establishing disaster preparedness plans, emergency personnel in all settings should have equipment on hand to guarantee that, whatever obstacles arise, communication lines will remain available. Portable sound systems are an essential tool for responders to have on hand for these unpredictable public safety situations.

AmpliVox offers a wide variety of systems to serve different functions, but one central purpose is common to all: providing reliable, grab-and-go communication to calm, direct, and inform large groups of people in times of crisis. Specialized products serve the following functions:

AmpliVox developed its Radio Hailer system for private security applications for the investment firm Goldman Sachs, allowing management to coordinate safety communication from multiple locations around its New York City and Jersey City offices.

Emergency leadership may need to direct response teams and civilians from remote locations.

The Radio Hailer can provide closed communication networks to cover large areas, using MURS two-way radios and radio-connected hailer speakers.

Multiple speakers can be set up in seconds in locations up to a mile apart, allowing for the broadest communication coverage from a single command center.

The Radio Hailer from AmpliVox uses two-way MURS radios and powerful Hailer loudspeakers for large-scale coverage from a remote, centralized command center.

AmpliVox provides its Mity Meg Rechargeable Megaphones to the American Red Cross to help disaster response teams coordinate emergency services.

Megaphones pack a great deal of versatility and power into compact, portable units.

These easy-to-use sound systems are ready for action when needed, even under harsh conditions.

AmpliVox offers rechargeable megaphones with lithium-ion batteries to reduce weight and provide long-lasting charges, whether in use or on the shelf.

They can deliver voice coverage up to a mile, and also grab attention with on-board horn or siren functions.

AmpliVox’s S604R model features an integrated strobe signal light for added safety and visibility.

American Red Cross teams use AmpliVox’s SB602R Mity Meg Rechargeable Megaphone for clear, powerful voice projection from an easy-to-use unit weighing just 2.5 lbs.

In a chaotic evacuation, people will be looking for visible direction from authorities.

Visibility can be greatly enhanced, even in dark or smoky situations, with simple tools like lighted traffic batons.

AmpliVox’s innovative new S606 Safety Wand Megaphone combines that visual support with an audio loudspeaker to guide people to safety.

Useful in any traffic control or crowd management situation, this versatile product is especially helpful in emergencies.

The AmpliVox S606 Safety Wand Megaphone combines a highly visible LED safety wand with an integrated PA system and detachable microphone.

When covering large areas, AmpliVox’s roof-mounted sound systems on emergency vehicles provide the most mobile and effective means of communication.

The Sound Cruiser features durable, powerful hailer loudspeakers that project voices for up to half a mile. They can be attached in minutes and powered directly from the vehicle.

AmpliVox’s Sound Cruiser provides mobile sound coverage with a range of a half mile.

These examples demonstrate the versatility and effectiveness that AmpliVox Sound Systems offer for emergency responders.

Easy to use and ready to go, these emergency tools improve communication in any crowd control situation – which means improved safety for civilians as well as responders.

Now more than ever, investing in reliable sound equipment must be a central part of any crisis management plan.

Top 5 Boating Safety Tips

What are the most important safety tips when piloting a boat?

Here are the top 5.

#1 Understand Your Responsibility

Although you may think boating should be worry free compared to driving a car, each year there are hundreds of mishaps involving poor piloting, collisions with buoys or fixed objects, water skiing accidents and others.

You are responsible for the safety of everyone aboard your vessel at all times, and you have a responsibility to those with whom you are sharing the water.

#2 Be Ready to Communicate

Be ready to communicate to your passengers, or those being towed or to other boaters. A powerful voice reinforcement tool such as the AmpliVox ProMarine Waterproof Megaphone should be an important part of your safety equipment.

The ProMarine Megaphone includes not only power voice reinforcement but also a built-in horn and a siren.

#3: Wear Life Jackets

Each year there are hundreds of drowning deaths, most of them by victims who are not wearing life jackets.

70% of all boating fatality accidents result from drowning. Almost 85% of those who drown are not wearing a life jacket. Having life jackets aboard does not save lives — WEARING them does!

#4: Always Be Aware of the Weather

Always be aware of the weather as it could change suddenly. Being on an open body of water in a squall cannot only be terrifying but life threatening.

Before you go boating, rely on weather.com for boat and beach conditions, your marine forecast, and surf information.

#5: Alcohol and Boating Do Not Mix

Alcohol and boating do not mix any more than driving a car. If you are piloting a boat you are always the designated driver.

It is illegal to operate a boat while under the influence of alcohol or drugs in every state. The Coast Guard also enforces a federal law that prohibits BUI. This law pertains to ALL boats from canoes and rowboats to the largest ships.

Have fun, and be safe. This message of boating safety is brought to you by AmpliVox, manufacturer of a multitude of reliable portable pa systems for indoors and out.
