Each May, we come together to celebrate the remarkable contributions of nurses during National Nurses Week (May 6-12) and, since 2023, National Nurses Month (May 1-31). This special time is dedicated to recognizing the unwavering commitment of nurses across various sectors, including hospitals, workplaces, and the community at large.
The American Nurses Association (ANA) also takes this opportunity to raise awareness and promote the nursing profession. The theme for 2023, "You Make a Difference," highlights the diverse roles of nurses and the significant impact they have on our lives.
As trusted advocates, nurses ensure that individuals, families, and communities receive top-quality patient care and services.
They also play a critical role in influencing and shaping health policy decisions to guarantee access to high-quality, affordable healthcare for all Americans.
By extending the celebration to an entire month, we can further promote understanding and appreciation of the invaluable contributions made by nurses.
National Nurses Month is an opportunity for everyone to express their gratitude and support for nurses, who tirelessly work to ensure the well-being of patients and their families. By recognizing their dedication, expertise, and compassionate care, we can continue to empower and inspire the nursing community.
May is also the month of remembering AmpliVox's beloved Nancy Szluk Roth and celebrating her legacy.
Her caring soul guided her to pursue the field of nursing instead, graduating with honors and serving in the ICU at Ford Hospital in Detroit and later moved to the Chicagoland area and was a nurse at Evanston Hospital.
