The five main candidates for Mayor of Chicago joined in their first formal televised debate on February 6, and lecterns from AmpliVox Sound Systems were front and center for this landmark election event.
AmpliVox’s SN3100 Contemporary Lectern was chosen by the design team at WLS-TV, the host of the debate, to establish an elegant tone for the staging of the event.
Susan Mitchell, the Set Designer for WLS-TV, had only a limited amount of time to plan and assemble the set for the debate, which eventually would be viewed by tens of thousands of local viewers.
She turned to locally-based AmpliVox as a source that could provide top-quality lecterns on an expedited schedule.
Pleased with the overall look and well-made design, Mitchell was able to customize the lecterns with silver side panels that gave them their distinctive on-screen appearance.
Customization is a hallmark of AmpliVox’s wide-ranging collection of lecterns.
Available in a variety of materials, many AmpliVox lecterns can be special ordered with custom colors, logos, and sound system options.
The Contemporary 3100 lectern featured in the debates has a streamlined profile with a spacious reading surface, silver side uprights that are also available in black or custom colors, and a hidden rear shelf for water.
The reading surface and base are manufactured with a revolutionary technology resulting in an attractive and durable finish.
AmpliVox CEO Don Roth was proud to see his company’s products connected to such a significant political event.
“This is an especially exciting event because of its importance to our local community, and because we were able to meet the very specific needs of the event planners. The lecterns performed perfectly during the debate, and I look forward to seeing them in use on WLS in the future.”
