AmpliVox Attends 2017 National Veterans Small Business Engagement

AmpliVox Sound Systems attended the 2017 National Veterans Small Business Engagement (NVSBE) that was held in St. Louis Missouri on December 5th through the 7th.

NVSBE continues to be the most effective way to build relationships with key program and acquisition managers, Procurement Decision Makers (PDMs), and contracting specialists.

Connections made during the Engagement allow Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs) to connect with the right people to capitalize on opportunities for contract awards and subcontracting.

NVSBE directly connects VOSBs with PDMs from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), other federal agencies, state government, as well as Commercial Firms with procurement needs.

NVSBE also enables VA PDMs to engage with a large number of VOSBs in a short period of time, facilitating market research in support of meeting VA socioeconomic goals.

At Booth #426 AmpliVox exhibited their product line of portable sound systems and custom lecterns with logos.

AmpliVox CEO Honored by Rotary Club

AmpliVox Sound Systems and its CEO Don Roth have been recognized with the 2017 Business Ethics Award, presented by the Rotary Club of Northbrook.

The honor commends Roth for his active involvement in the community and his company’s generous donation of products to a wide range of charities. The award was announced on November 17 at the Rotary’s annual Diamonds and Denim Fundraising Auction.

AmpliVox is the second recipient of the award, which was launched in 2016.

The award is designed to honor local non-Rotarian businesses who operate according to the high ethical standards supported by Rotary, including the organization’s fundamental commitment to “service above self.”

Businesses are nominated by Northbrook Rotary members, with final review and selection made by a special committee.

As AmpliVox’s owner and CEO, Don Roth has instituted Cause Marketing campaigns that have benefited a number of charities in Northbrook, in Illinois, and around the nation.

In addition to cash donations, AmpliVox’s Cause Marketing programs provide free sound equipment to non-profit groups, carefully selecting products that fit the organizations’ specific needs.

One of the most high-profile programs has been the Pink Podium Promise, which donates weatherproof lecterns and megaphones to breast cancer groups for use in races, fundraisers, and education programs.

AmpliVox has also made large donations of equipment to the American Red Cross, Special Olympics Illinois, the North Suburban YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, and many other grassroots organizations filling community needs.

AmpliVox is proud of its deep roots in the Northbrook community. When the company outgrew its previous space, Roth opted to stay in Northbrook and move to an expanded facility on Anthony Trail to preserve the company’s relationship with its employees and community partners.

Don served on the Board of the NSYMCA for several years, providing leadership that helped save the Y from closure and transform it into a rejuvenated and thriving community center. An active participant in the Northbrook Chamber, AmpliVox has supported Chamber activities with sound equipment donations and technical assistance to enhance events.

"The Northbrook Rotary is happy to recognize AmpliVox and Don Roth for their outstanding service and community involvement," says Andy Vass, President of Northbrook Rotary.

"Don’s support of the broader community reflects the ethical standards that are at the core of the Rotary mission."

Bad Lip Reading Parodies Game of Thrones with Mity-Meg Megaphone

While Game of Thrones recently completed its seventh season on HBO, it was after the show’s first season that our megaphone made an appearance—sort of.

Bad Lip Reading, a popular YouTube channel that parodies movies, television shows, and sports clips by overdubbing existing dialogue with funny vocal alternatives, incorporated our S601 Mity-Meg Megaphone in their Game of Thrones-themed parody, “Medieval Land Fun-Time World.”

In the video, the world of Westeros is reimagined as a medieval-themed carnival, and Ned Stark (played by Sean Bean), uses the Mity-Meg Megaphone to remind his audience of the park’s impending opening.

Look for the Mity-Meg beginning at the 0:14 mark.

Mity-Meg Rechargeable Megaphone

Our line of Mity-Meg Megaphones are lightweight, weather-resistant, and deliver clear sound coverage of up to a mile with talk, whistle, and siren modes.

The model’s integrated lithium-ion rechargeable battery and AmpliVox-exclusive power indicator light keeps the unit running for up to eight hours of typical use.

Megaphones Bring Mobile, Coordinated Communication to Marathons

Though football and baseball dominate the public’s attention as in-demand fall sports, the season’s cool, comfortable temperatures coupled with its scenic views make fall a popular of year for marathon running. Of the more than 800 marathons scheduled in the United States and Canada in 2017, more than 125 will be held in October, more than any other month during the year.

While determined runners spend months training to finish the 26.2 mile course, planning and executing a successful marathon race is similarly no easy task. Whether it is the 50,000-plus runner TCS New York City Marathon in November, or the 500 runner The Lost Dutchman Marathon in Apache Junction, Arizona, race organizers must go to great logistical lengths to ensure a fun, safe, and well-run event.

Consider just a few of the different groups of people that are present at a marathon: medical personnel, public safety officers, supportive family and friends, members of the media, fellow race volunteers and organizers, and of course, the runners themselves.

To communicate with these different audiences, whether to provide direction, make pre- or post-race announcements, or offer instructions during an emergency, race coordinators must cover miles of distance near and around the race course, a challenge too great for even the best trained athletes.

What's more, these audiences will likely be so focused on their unique responsibilities—running the race, providing medical care, supporting their loved ones—that grabbing their attention through normal human speech just might not be enough.

Megaphones are a great way to overcome these obstacles and deliver powerful and clear communication to all of your marathon audiences.

Lightweight and compact, megaphones can be carried in one hand as you travel to different checkpoints along a marathon course.

They also provide enough power to deliver voice coverage up to one mile away, which reduces voice strain and saves the energy it would otherwise take to travel to these groups on foot.

But megaphones can be even more than just a sound amplifier.

With on-board horn or siren functions, along with built-in strobe lights, megaphones also serve as a valuable emergency preparedness tool.

When inclement weather or emergency circumstances compromise the safety of those on the course, communicating through a megaphone establishes authority, and is sure to attract the attention of those in attendance.

Chicago Spring Half-Marathon Volunteers Direct Runners with Mity-Meg Megaphone

For the more than 5,000 runners that participated in this past May’s Chicago Spring Half Marathon & 10K, the day offered a unique opportunity to race down normally busy downtown Chicago streets and lakefront trails, offering pristine views of the city’s renowned skyline and nearby Lake Michigan.

For race personnel, the event posed a sizeable communication challenge: in order to ensure the race began on time, runners needed to assemble in their appropriate starting corrals before beginning so the course did not overcrowd.

But with thousands of anxious participants and their supporters positioned throughout the 13-plus mile race course, the prospect of providing them instruction without support was daunting.

Fortunately, volunteers managing the Spring Half Marathon’s logistics had help.

Equipped with the AmpliVox Mity-Meg Megaphone, they delivered crystal clear instructions to runners thanks to the Mity-Meg’s 25-watts of audio power, which blanketed the course with sound and reached thousands of ears at once.

Weighing just two pounds and featuring a comfortable pistol grip handle, the device made it easy for volunteers to speak while moving throughout the course, directing runners to their corral and ensuring festivities would begin on time.
