Protesters Rally Using the Mity-Meg Bullhorn

Protesters gathered last week to speak out against the findings of Lake County State's Attorney Mike Nerheim, clearing a Zion police officer of a teenager's fatal shooting.

17-year-old Justus Howell of Waukegan IL was fatally wounded by a Zion police officer after a foot chase that ended with Howell being shot twice in the back.

Police said moments before the chase that the teenager had been involved in a scuffle while trying to steal a handgun during a street sale.

Nerheim said the teen, was armed and turning toward officers with his weapon when he was shot and killed. The officer who shot Howell is a nine-year veteran who has been placed on administrative leave.

Protesters have peacefully gathered since the April 4th fatal shooting and have held marches and demonstrations through the streets of Zion, rallying at the police headquarters demanding "Justice for Justus".

Howell's shooting happened amid a wave of controversial use of force by police nationwide, followed by complaints about the rarity of criminal charges against police. Despite the lack of charges, Justus' mother, LaToya Howell, said she will continue to advocate on behalf of her late son and local youths.

"We need to stand up for them because no one else will" - LaToya Howell

Protesters use of the S602MR Mity-Meg Plus Rechargeable Megaphone gave them an effective range of up to one mile, allowing them to easily:
  • Lead the march
  • Direct the crowds
  • Speak to the rally
  • Peacefully demonstrate
  • Get their message out

Parkinson's Audio Voice Solutions: Voice Booster

Ron Stelzer knows the challenges of Parkinson’s Disease all too well, a terrible ailment that sometimes makes it difficult for him to speak clearly.

Diagnosed with the neurological disorder in 2007, Stelzer has had to deal with a range of difficult symptoms, including problems with the volume and intelligibility of his speech.

Fortunately, as CFO of AmpliVox Sound Systems, Stelzer works for a company that designs products that can solve problems like his and has access to experts in the science of helping people’s voices be heard.

AmpliVox sound technicians worked with Stelzer to adapt the company’s S207 BeltBlaster Pro with an on / off handheld button that helps him mute his voice when he does not want to be heard.

The BeltBlaster Voice Booster is a lightweight, battery-powered 5 Watt sound system that gives you a strong clear voice and freedom to move while you are talking.

The unit connects to either a lapel or headset microphone, and provides sufficient sound coverage for groups of up to 75 people.

It also includes fingertip controls for volume and a handheld mute button that is easy for users to operate.

The unit’s rechargeable batteries last for up to six hours on a single charge, or can be replaced with standard AA batteries.
A weather-resistant neoprene cover protects the unit and enhances its acoustics.

“The AmpliVox BeltBlaster Voice Booster helps me project my voice much more strongly,” notes Stelzer.

“The critical feature it has is an on/off button that lets me mute my voice when I don’t want to be heard. The Voice Booster can help anyone who needs assistance being heard, for whatever reason.”

The BeltBlaster can be seen in action in this instructive video.
